Hamlin Beach Tri/Shoreline Triathlon History

This race has a LONG and RICH History as one of the oldest triathlons in the US.  Although it has undergone quite a few course/distance and director changes, this event still stands as an old school triathlon.

Check out its long history of winners/distances/directors here.  Many thanks to Carl Johnston for compiling this historical paper.

Swim Course: Wetsuits are HIGHLY recommended.  We will be swimming in Lake Ontario in a triangle shape.  If the water is deemed too rough by Park Officials the swim will be replaced with a run.  The temperature can range anywhere from 55 to 68 degrees and the water terrain can be calm or wavy depending on wind flow.  WETSUITS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  Wetsuits can be rented or purchased from Fleet Feet Sports

Transition: This is located in the westside of Area 4.  Athletes will enter one way and exit another.

Bike Course:  You will start from transition and head out of the park towards Moscow Rd.  Turn Left onto Moscow Rd, then Right onto Lake Rd East (Rt 19).  Make a right onto Church Rd, then Right onto Redman, then right back onto Moscow Rd, then left into the park.  Heed CAUTION at all times.  The road is open to traffic.  When entering back into the park, do not head towards Rochester.  PAY ATTENTION Here.  You will follow the loop into the park and back towards the transition.  You will always ride with traffic and never against it.  Keep in mind YOU are responsible to know the course, so drive it, ride or even run it before hand.

Run Course: is on the westside of the park and very well marked.  The run is relatively flat with some parts on the trail section at the west side of the park.  The trails are fairly easy and help break up the run.  This map is not to scale since part of it is on trails, but is extremely well marked.  There are 3 water stops as well.
